!Id like to appologize if this is a repost!

Hey yo,
my name is chance

I just recently did a thorough local drive scan, and removed a few hidden malware programs, and Im very happy with Avast! for as long as I’ve had it

This is the first time I’ve had trouble.

I recently walked into my room with my computer on and it had a bunch of popup windows open and several virus alerts. I dont know how long it had been sitting that way(compliments of a family member who wont tell me) I did the full scan and it removed a few, but it came up with 30 files that it could not scan

Are any of these files maliscious of potentially?
Ive searched the issue and gotten mixed results

PS: If its relevant

Im running Avast! 4.8 home edition on a gateway 507GR
With windows XP home edition 32 bit

and also if its relevant, I just went through and ended several unneeded processes(during the scan, I r dumm)
and ended and then deleted prunnet.exe and I think one other malware that was not over complex, but I cant remember

They seem to be Grokster files and some sort of archive. These files are locked/password protected, but such files are usually innocent.

For a double check, run a scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free.

When you have finished, scan for out-of-date and insecure software using Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI) and update any vulnerable software: this will help to prevent future infections.

In the process right now

Ill post results

Off topic, should I be worried about tracking cookies?

There are a few websites that I need to have them enabled for, and would prefer not to disable them

And im in the process of the scan now, 24 detected threats found so far, thanks for the link

Off topic, should I be worried about tracking cookies?

No, not really.

http://www.geocities.com/dontsurfinthenude/cookies.htm

Get CCleaner and put the trusted cookies in its Options then Cookies then → the ones you want to keep:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download

Run CCleaner and the unwanted cookies plus a lot of other junk is gone.

Weird, I just got another virus alert, I was going onto an imageboard

I was in the SFW(safe for work) section and i got redirected and virus alerted
(I read about this in the http://www.geocities.com/dontsurfinthenude/)
XP antivirus 2009 along with an avast virus alert

It starts up adobe reader thing and turns off my firewall, i aborted the connection and deleted the virus with avast

but i think it was still acting up, so i did a superantispyware scan and found it, and in the process of removing it

Im going to avoid that website

Im gonna go with techspots semi-legendary virus removal steps

Looks like a drive-by download using a vulnerability in Adobe. Is Adobe up to date? Did you follow the advice here?

When you have finished, scan for out-of-date and insecure software using Secunia Online Software Inspector (OSI) and update any vulnerable software: this will help to prevent future infections.

in the process of scanning it with secunia, its been about a half hour and no updates needed yet

Ill post when its done tonight or tomorrow after i get home

i checked it and have a bunch of outdated versions, gonna get them set up tonight

Was Adobe one, perchance?
