Unable to scan: CAB archive is corrupted

Does anyone know why I keep receiving the message “Unable to scan: Cab archive is corrupted”. The exact file is the MsnMsgs.msi file located in my Local Settings\Temp\Bit8.tmp directory. When I look in this directory I find the hidden file “Bit8.tmp” file but do not see the MsnMsgs.msi file located in the “Bit8.tmp” directory.

I know the MsnMsgs.msi file has to do with MSN Messenger V7.5 that I’m running. When I delete the Bit8.tmp file, I no longer receive the above CAB archive is corrupted error message in the Results of last scan box. However, once I run MSN Messenger and login again to it, after I run Avast I once again receive the Cab archive is corrupt error, and the Bit8.tmp file also appears again.

I realize that this is probably not a problem, but I’m really curious if anyone else out there has this problem and if so, what they have done so as not to see this message when they complete their scans. I am running XP Pro with SP2, and have the latest security updates installed. Other than this, Avast is running great and I have no complaints whatsoever. Please let me know if anyone has a solution to the above problem, thank you for your assistance.

You are right. it really isn’t a problem. I’ve run into this in the past. I don’t think the cab file is corrupted, rather avast has encountered a file hat it can’t unencrypt/unpack.

Thanks for your assistance.
