Unable to SCAN with latest AVAST

My AVAST installation recently updated itself with the latest 2014 version.

I then found the SCAN screen had shrunk to only the FAST SCAN option and even this failed to function when called.

I thought it might be a download corruption and re-downloaded. Exactly the same result.

So I have returned to the previous version of AVAST which works perfectly.

I am running on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

Nothing wrong with the scan function in 2014.9.0.2011
When you re-installed, did you first un-install the previous avast installation.

Suggest:-

  1. Download AvastClear.exe
  2. Uninstall Avast
  3. Run AvastClear to finish cleaning out the old installation
  4. Install the new version

  1. Download Avastclear, Rejzors uninstall tool and the appropriate Avast program edition

Note : You need to be ONLINE during the install (sometimes online installer works whereas offline doesn’t)

Rejzors Uninstall tool: http://rejzor.wordpress.com/avast-cleanup-tool/

  1. Uninstall Avast by control panel [If you don’t have Avast in control Panel go to #4]
  2. Uninstall in safe mode using Avastclear.
  3. Run Rejzors Uninstall Utility in Normal Mode (removes traces avastclear doesn’t) - reboot.
  4. Install the version you downloaded.
  5. Reboot.
