So I put off updating my antivirus software for a while, and I finally decided to do it today. One of the options for updating came with a 20 day trial of the paid version of the software (I had been using the free version, I’m poor). I decided to try it out to see if it was worth paying for. Needed to restart my computer so I did. Now I’m loaded back up and avast wants to run a full system scan to make sure everything is OK. I try to approve the scan and I get this error: “Unable to start scan. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper”
I didn’t change any settings before trying the scan so I know I didn’t turn something off manually. Is this a common problem? Did I install something wrong? I also tried verifying my account and it keeps saying it sent the email but nothing is showing up in my inbox.
Sorry for the lack of details in my original post.
Windows 7 64 bit
No security software other than Avast.
Not sure how to tell exactly which version of Avast I have, in my settings menu it says I have version 2015.10.2218 but it doesn’t say if I’m running pro or premier or whatever. I assume it’s not Free because this was supposed to be a 20 day free trial of the paid software.
Avast is the only AV that I ever installed on this system.
I followed your instructions. I’ve run the avastclear and re-installed from the fresh free avast installer. Smart scan is running now. Something that concerns me though. During both avastclear and re-install I got multiple error: cannot read file…" popups. They said “install cannot continue” but when I clicked OK install continued and finished, claiming to be successfully uninstalled/installed respectively. What’s up with that?
I didn’t take one because I assumed the install would not complete and I was going to need to re-try it. Avast seems to be functioning properly. I need to make a habit of taking screenshots/progress pics when troubleshooting =( I guess I’ll let it ride until a problem comes up, then deal with it as it plays out. Thanks for your help.
