unable to start scan.there are no more endpoints available from the endpoint map

Hi-I started my computer today and Avast is not running-I am getting the message ‘unable to start scan.there are no endpoints available from the endpoint mapper’.
My subscription shows ‘ACTIVE’ but below this it says 0 days remaining-I should have about 18 months left of a 2 year subscription.
I have tried re-entering the license code that I had saved but I get the error message’unable to insert the license code.the system cannot find the file specified.’
I have just run malwarebytes anti malware and nothing untoward showed up.

A couple of days ago I had to do a system restore-would this have anything to do with it?
Any advice or solutions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

it may, avast does not like system restore unless you turn off self protection module first

try avast repair
controlpanel > ad/remove programs > avast > uninstall/change > repair option … wait a minute and reboot

if this does not work i suggeste a new clean install
remove with this. http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
install again. http://www.avast.com/download-software

I would think that the restore is what did the damage, avast’s self defence needs to be disabled prior to doing restores.

You are going to have to perform a reinstall so first download the avast cleaner and fresh copy of avast from here http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=139606.msg1018608 and save, run the cleaner tool which will ask for your acceptance to reboot to safe mode to complete its process, run the tool for all versions of avast ever install from the dropdown list and when completed it will reboot back to normal mode.

Now install the fresh avast version you downloaded earlier and reinsert you licence.

Try the repair mentioned by Pondus first

thanks all for your help-your advice appears to have sorted it.
