Unable to start the Avast firewall

Using the latest application and virus vault of Avast Premium Security and the firewall has decided to go AWOL!! PC suddenly takes longer to boot, disk runs at 100% for 25 minutes while I investigate but come Hell or highwater, I cannot fix said issue.

Windows 10 and now having to use Windows Defender in all its glory! Read various suggestions and loaded Malwarebytes on recommendation - ran and it found malware!!! How much do I have to pay out to Avast to stop malware?

Hi Rednose. Thanks for the advice and I have used Malwarebytes to identify and remove the malware but the issue remained. I have since restored the pc to an earlier point and this seems to have done the trick(for now)
