Hello, everyone.
I have a problem in that my Avast! cannot connect to the servers. I have tried several techniques on the forums and other places, but to no avail.
Avast Version: Free version 5.0.594
Proxy: None
Firewall: Only standard Windows XP Service Pack 2 Firewall
Virus Definition: 100715-1
I am using Firefox version 3.5.10 and do not use IE, if that is of any help.
If any more information is required, please let me know.

Could you make sure that Windows Firewall is configured to let avast connect to the internet ? Any other security app running ? What other security app did you use before Avast ?

You need to jump to XP Service pack 3 at least as there is many security issues. Use windows update to get it!.
Did you have any other antivirus on the computer before installing avast?.
If you used norton/ symantec or macafee, then you need to remove them compleatly with their removal tools.
Try a repair of avast trough add & remove programs.
Check for spyware using malware bytes free anti spyware test utility. See what that brings up.
I bet you have an infected system due to being on SP2

I have disabled windows firewall and tried to update then, but it still doesn’t work.
The repair option doesn’t work either. It can’t connect still.
Avast was working perfectly for me for over 2 years, but the latest update seems to have caused problems.
I do not have any other anti-virus on my computer.
I have Malware Bytes (version 1.46) on my computer and ran it. Nothing came up.
