When the program starts updating virus database after sometime an error message comes up:" …No storage space" Once it showed in detail that the license number is temporary. .With this it is not possible to have an uptodate Virus data base. What is the solution?
Is there a contact address where such questions can be sent?
Are you using avast! Home Edition? (free version)
Did you register it? http://www.avast.com/eng/home-registration.php
We will need more information to be able to help you:
- Which OS are you using? Is it up to date?
- What avast! version?
- Do you use a firewall? Which one?
- Do you have any other antivirus installed in your system? Did you have in the past?
- Any other security programs that could interfere?
- How long did you install avast for the first time?
Yes. I have registered it. The latest error message is:
Information about current update:
Last encountered error: Not enough storage is available to process this command.
Total time: 30:31
Win98SE. Windows update does not function on IE5.5. IE crashes so frequently that I am using Opera9.62 fairly satisfactorily.
Avast 4.8 Home Edition
No firewall, no other Antivirus.
No other program that interferes as I know of.
While installing it took longer time, may be 10 minutes or so, the ‘finish’ indication never came however. I had to click the desktop icon to start it going!

gskrao, some other users are experiencing the same error… something seems to be ‘wrong’ with the last avast update and Windows 98.
Thanks. Pl let us know what we should do.
I’m waiting for Alwil team instructions… I do not what to do either, sorry.
The problem continued with update to ver 9.63. However, I had a problem doggin me since reinstallation of Win98SE in that the display color remained at 16 colours though the potential for the display was True color 24 bit. Once this situation was corrected and the display started functioning correctly, Opera 9.63 stopped showing "illegal operation performed…has to close down…‘’ . Now the browser seems to be working alright as well as updating the virus database with a healthy tone!!
