When a virus is found there is a checkmarked by default box to submit the sample to Avast for further analysis. Can the avast5.ini file be edited to keep this box unchecked by default?
I believe if you uncheck it on the next alert it will still be unchecked.
I don’t believe this is a normal scan is it, but the anti-rootkit scan as the other detections should send to chest and there is no submit sample to avast, see image.
Why wouldn’t you want to help the avast community by sending the sample ?
Unless it’s a heuristics or rootkit detection (both of which are somewhat rare, or let’s just say less common), you don’t submit the actual sample, just the bit of information that the virus was detected.
This allows us to build charts like this http://www.avast.com/virus-monitor and also helps the virus lab to prioritize samples (which is very important).
But to answer the original question, I’m not sure actually. In v4.8, it was like DavidR described, but I’m not sure about v5. But I generally agree it should behave like this, so if it doesn’t, I’ll file a bug and it will be fixed in an upcoming program update.
Thanks

Thanks. Just confirmed again that it stays checked, even if you uncheck it the previous time.
Hi Vlk, do you know if the devs were able to address this? Just curious if this will be included in the next update.
Looks like this didn’t make it in the lastest version 5.0.507.
Vlk - were you able to file a bug report for this?
Sorry must have missed this previously. The issue should be fixed in the next update.
Thanks
Vlk
Thanks Vlk, appreciate it!
