We just brought up a new Avast BP server which is currently running alongside our Avast 4 ADNM server.
Do we need to uninstall all of our Avast 4 clients before pushing out from the BP server? Or will the BP server upgrade the clients if it sees Avast already on the machine?
After doing some testing, I answered my own question.
Pushing to a machine with the old Avast client installed seems to work just fine. No uninstall beforehand necessary.

yes the sbc clients uninstalls the old client before installing itself.
i installed the 4.8 client in a not-standard directory when deployed maybe thats why i found this below out:
keep note that this way the old directories are not deleted
so in the program files directory there will be 2 directories one for the new client and one for the old
in the start menu of windows both the client parent menu option are available
i delete all that manually so far, but ill be making a GPO for it soon when i get more time
