I realize others have asked this, but I am not finding a proper answer to the question.
I intalled avast trial 2.74RO and now the trial is finished.
How do I uninstall the program when I am unable to get at the preferences because the trial is finished. I am able to quit out of the Application Expired window (this is not the problem). The problem in that because I dont have a licence the preferences is greyed out.
How do i uninstall.
since nobody has answered me…
I just trashed the program, are there more hidden files I need to get rid of?

yes, butn they are [pretty benign - you can also clean your home, subdirectory Library/Application Support/com.avast.MacAvast

In case someone still looks at this post. I try dragging the Avast icon to the trash bin, but it remains in the Applications folder. I have a MacBook Air in case it matters. Any other way to un-install it?
nbgeorge, make sure avast is not running when dragging it to the trash. Make sure avast is not running in persistent mode (under preferences - launch at startup as a persistent application - should be unchecked)
