Will this also remove all the registry entries or do I have to use the avast removal tool? I want to uninstall v.6 and install v.7.
I would recommend the unintall utility
It is always recommended to use the uninstaller to ensure a clean slate before doing a reinstallation.
Even after using the tool, sometimes a couple things are left anyway. Empty folders. In the Reg., some Legacy keys might be left.
For best results, uninstall normally from Control Panel 1st, then follow that up with the removal tool in SafeMode to scrub leftovers.
I’d say using just the Control Panel should be enough in most cases. It is definitely meant to remove registry entries etc.
