Uninstall Hang up?

I am trying to uninstall avast 7 on windows 7 through the control panel. I click to uninstall and at that point avast takes me to the internet security setup screen. From there I select uninstall, then the process begins and gets hung up. There is no progress bar so it is had to determine how far along the progress is but it gets hung up where it says sand box. Has anybody experience this if so what should I do to correct this issue?

Download the avast! Uninstall Utility, aswClear.exe find it here and save it to your HDD (it has uninstall tools for 5.x, 6.0.x and 7.0.x).

    1. Now uninstall avast! (using add remove programs, if you can’t do that (as seems to be the case) start from the next step), reboot.- 2. run the avast! Uninstall Utility from safe mode, first for 6.x if previously installed and then for 7.0, once complete reboot into normal mode.
