i need to temporarily uninstall / disable avast to allow downloads. i then want it reactivated. how is this best done?:

You shouldn’t have to disable avast just to download or install other software. That is the whole point of security software, if they have nothing to hide there is no need to pause or disable avast.
What software is it you are trying to download and why do they say you need to disable your anti-virus ?
