when should the uninstall utility be used: before uninstall Avast or after that?
If before - is there any tool that remove rests of Avast after uninstalling it, e.g. removal tool?
In my opinion,
I think the sequences are as follows.
- To utilize “Uninstall Utility” to remove the [old] 4.8 version.
- To install the [new] 5.0 version.
many people said they can’t install 5.0 completely or can’t run very well.
The main reason probably may be the uninstallation of old one is not complete.
Well the installation file for 5.0 should preserve and convert the 4.8 license information for use in 5.0 and uninstall 4.8 also.
This worked fine for me and I guess the majority of users, yes I know some have had a problem (then you might have to do a clean install) or we would have seen many more posts in the forums about it than we have.

Yes you did, it only needs to be used if you have a problem uninstalling using the windows add remove programs uninstall.
