It seems that Avast home cannot be uninstalled from my Vista ! I 'm waiting since 2 hours …( I 've done remove from control panel…) .
What can I do ?

Try using the avast! uninstall utility.
Possibly you have to use in in Safe Mode…
Would you mind telling us why you uninstall avast?

Do this. This is the best way to get rid of it.
Although somebody beat me to it. 
Do you have (or had) any other antivirus in this computer?
Seems a conflict are avoiding correct uninstallation…
I suppose you’re the administrator of the computer and allowed UAC for avast requests (if any).
F8 should start Vista in safe mode…but It doesn’t work !

Seems you have more problems that only uninstalling avast…
You did not answer why are you trying to do so…
It should work also.
I 've done using msconfig… as in XP…
About this uninstall … it is because a new Avast installation started it and never ended …
I 've tried from Control panel and still was an endless process…
Now that I 've cleared the old installation I 'll retray the new one.
