I installed Avast4 home today with the view of cleaning my computer of viruses, I had been using NOD32 previously however I was having difficulty with the program and I had not performed a scan for a while so figured I’d try Avast.
Upon installing the program I updated and ran a full scan on all my local drives, the scan came up with 3 “detected” viruses, all 3 of which I placed in the virus chest without really checking first so that I could then check them later.
I then later today started having trouble doing certain tasks within windows such as opening xml and html files in explorer, and problems with firefox, thinking this was down to avast I uninstalled the program quickly without thinking about the items I had placed in the chest. :-[ :o
I can remember 2 of the items I had placed in the chest, one of which I have a backup file of on my external HDD, however the other one I cannot remember. Is there any way I can find the files I placed in the Virus Chest or at least a log file listing them.
I also tired re-installing the program to see if the Virus Chest items would come back, but the chest is now empty.
After uninstalling… sorry, not.
avast should have a warning about logs/chested files before uninstalling but unfortunatelly it does not have such an advice…
Anyway, why don’t we try to solve your problems as you won’t be able to have that files back anyway…
I can say welcome to forums, although you’re experiencing a problem…
