It left a folder in the common files folder with some files inside of it. Should i delete it?
The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2009/2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003 products from your computer.
Before you continue, make sure that you have the installation CDs or downloaded installation files for any Norton products that you want to reinstall.
Also, if you use ACT! or WinFAX, back up those databases and uninstall those products.

Agree with bob, as for the bands,Sorry, None of the above.
It’s quite likely if you did as recommended in another thread that you still have the Norton Removal Tool. Did it leave those folders behind, or didn’t you use it?
If the former, it should be safe to delete them.
As for the bands, Salmonella Dub, The Tutts, or Shapeshifter. Although Fat Freddy’s Drop puts out some very good stuff.
Yes you should delete it, because having 2 or more anti virus on your computer can crash your pc
i used the uninstallation tool but there are still some files left over. They are in a folder called symantec shared and you click on it and it says security center and it has a bunch of files called dmp files which i have no idea what they are.
Probably safe to delete, can we have the full name and path, please.
a folder called symantec shared with 25 files in it and a folder called ccpd-lc with 62 files in it. Also there is a file called Nmain with numbers after it.
No cigar.
Full name and path, please.
[edit]
Eg: C\Documents and settings\Eminem\Local Settings\Application data\Symantec\blah blah blah…
SymWSC-2005.1.2.20-2005-01-05-22-03-39-593.dmp is an example.
Still no full path, but I’d say that one, being a dmp file, is fine to delete.
the files in the ccpd-lc folder are dll files. Should i delete them as well?
I’m sorry, Eminem, (never thought I’d say that, BTW) but without a path I have no way of knowing.
what path?
this is the path…C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC
i need help bad im afraid if i delete it i’ll mess something up. Why is norton so hard to get rid of!!?!?!
The dll files have been accessed recently.
i got the same problem with norton 2008, i uninstalled norton 2008, but it left some files in the directory
C\Documents and settings\USer Lo\Local Settings\Application data\Symantec and after that i wasn,t able to open command.com then i reinstalled windows again
The Symantec folder can be deleted safely.
If you have no other Symantec applications (very sneaky, I have winfax pro, which is a symantec product) then you could feasibly remove the Symantec Shared folder. But you have to be sure that you don’t have any symantec applications.
