Uninstalling Avast Destroyed My Computer

Running fine till I tried to uninstall avast, then on the restart it asked I was caught in a recovery loop that does not allow for safe mode usage of any kind. On top of that the System Restore avast created doesnt exist.

Cant run AvastClear because it says “the subsystem needed to support the image type is not present”
Used Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64, removed all Avast Related things I could find, no luck.

Running Windows 8.1

Run avastclear in safe mode.

Did you even read my post?

Provide the Farbar log files as has been explained in many other threads.

C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\volsnap.sys IS MISSING <==== ATTENTION C:\Windows\System32\codeintegrity\Bootcat.cache IS MISSING <==== ATTENTION
Do you have the windows CD ?

I do. I have a copy of Windows 8.1 and the Key

Though every time I tried to reinstall the system it says I cant for whatever reason, and when using the disks recovery options I get the same options as the normal windows recovery state.

Which includes:
-No access to Safe mode
-Repair option always failing to work
and
-No system restore states.

Other than that I have a disk copy yes

Boot from the CD and on the menu select Refresh … Option one http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2293-refresh-windows-8-a.html

It just says “There was a problem refreshing your PC. No changes were made.”

That was from the CD recovery console ?

You may have to reinstall due to the missing files… Do you have a backup of your data ?

I can access my files through things like ubuntu, but i was trying to avoid a reinstall

Cant I like add the missing files?

Also why doesnt avast warn against this happening during their uninstall process, or even run the Avast cleaner that was the first thing to come up many times in other posts

Also why doesnt avast warn against this happening during their uninstall process
You can't warn for something if you don't know if it is coming.

I mean just seems like if there is a process and application then it seems you do know it’s coming. Not all the time I’ll buy it, but if it was put in as an auto process, you cant break anything by uninstalling something that doesn’t exist.

Volsnap can be replaced but not bootcat

Thank you for your time
