Uninstalling Avast Free breaks vbscript

Hi all,
I just uninstalled Avast Free and now I can’t run vbscript items. I get the error:
“CScript Error: Can’t find script engine “VBScript” for script”.

I’m pretty sure this is because Avast, like McAfee, intercepts VBscript calls to scan for malicious software, but the uninstaller doesn’t see to reset it back to the regular Windows setting.

How can I fix this?

You have/had avast! as well as McAcrap installed at the same time?
That is a big “not done” thing.
Remove both completely and only install 1 av software.
Then check if your vbscripts are working again.
