Uninstalling Avast Issues

I have installed Avast free version and then opted to try the internet security suite to see how it runs on windows 8.1. Every sence I installed Avast and opted the trial, I can no longer update my windows. I never had the problem with bit defender. I tried to uninstall avast and now I have no Internet connection at all. I’ve tried everything. I have searched the internet for days now trying to get a fix. I reset my system to anearlier point in time and avast came back also. I can now connect to the internet but I still cannont update windows with any security updates. I tried to roll back to the free version and now I can no longer access the internet. This is very frustrating any help would be appreciated. I just want avast gone and my internet connection restored. I did run the avast cleaner program also to no avail.

Which version of Avast did you have installed?
Did you run the Avastclear.exe tool in SafeMode?

It was the newest version. I installed it about three weeks ago. I had ran a boot time scan and it must of done something because ever since that time I couldn’t do any window updates. First I uninstalled it through the control panel. Not internet, I tried everything to no avail. I did a restore and was able to get back on the internet. So I decided to revert back to the free version but same thing, no internet. I found some posts to run the cleaner which I did in safe mode but still no internet. So I just finished doing another restore point and I’m back where I started. I’m going to try the recovery councel in windows and see if that will work to fix any corrupt files. I’ve been researching this for days to no avail.

After the restore I did an update of avast internet security, rebooted and then rebooted into safe mode. I ran the avastclean.exe program and it did the trick after the third time. Not sure what had happened but I finally got it working. The wier thing is that the boot scan corrupted some files. Now trying to get the update service working.
