Uninstalling Norton Anti Virus

I want to get rid of NAV before I install avast. But, I do not want to remove other Norton System Works from my machine. Is there an easy way to delete NAV without deleting the rest of System Works?

Or would it be simpler and best to uninstall all of the Norton stuff, then install avast antivirus, then reinstall those parts of Norton I want on my machine…not including NAV, of course.

Thank you.

You can try Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > Norton SystemWorks > Change
Uncheck the NAV component.

Yeah, seems the best and easiest to do.

Oh, I have avast and Norton SystemWorks working together… Of couse, NAV was never installed  8)

nodoog,
Check my website, I have a section named “How to completely remove NAV”.

Thanks guys! Especially you, Spyros. Your website very, very informative and useful.

Edit: *** Reply started by mistake… my sincere appology guys.

Anyway, Spyros you;re doing great job with that site… so helpful, it’s unbelievable.

Keep up the good work !

 When I uninstalled Norton AV 2004, there were 3 different
“components” listed in my Add/Remove Programs,
including “Live Update”; i clicked on each of the “listings”
to uninstall each one separate from the other ones.
I think the 3rd “component” was called “WMI…” .
