Uninstalling unwanted Avast browser

I got up early this morning in order to prepare for an upcoming job I have schedule and noticed that Avast somehow managed to install a browser that I never asked for and don’t want. So I started the uninstall process. Fast forward 45 minutes and I have the following: my hard drive fan is maxing out and the “changing the product” window says its “replacing the files” and the screen progress bar has progressed all the way to the end but there’s nothing indicating that it’s finished. Do I assume it’s finished and click the upper right corner x on the window to close it? WTF is going on here!?! Thanks Avast for consuming the time that I had alloted for preparation for my next client.

Why is Avast installing unwanted programs on my computer without asking permission and why is uninstalling it such an ordeal?

Sounds like you are using a old version of avast.
avast doesn’t installs the SafeZone Browser without permission anymore.

Ok, I usually get a pop-up message telling me when it’s time to upgrade to a newer version but it’s possible someone else was using the computer when that occured and they chose not to upgrade. I’ll try downloading the latest version. Thanks.

Let us know if the problem is solved after installing the latest version.
