Unistall Avast 4.0

I have installed Zonelabs internet Suite and I want to unistall Avast 4.0.

But there are Avast registry entries that I am not able to delete.

Windows XP is telling me that there are multiple antivirus programs on this computer.

AvClear4 does not appear to be available for download.

How do I get rid of Avast?

 You be better off uninstalling the "security suite"; ZA's
 antivirus is 2nd-rate,as is its antispyware .

I am making that mean that you do not know how to eliminate the Avast resitries entries, or how to completly unistall Avast.

I thank you for your contribution to the forum, regardless of your ability, (or lack thereof) to contribute meaninful content.

Maybe I have been fortunate, but I used the ADD/Remove in the Control Panel. Then I did a search for all files and folders that contained the word Avast. When that search was completed I deleted all, and that took care of things.

Surely someone with the knowledge to do so will soon help you.

If not then I would consider reinstalling Avast and then going through the process I have found to work in uninstalling and searching and removing.
If you have done that and still have a problem then it will take an Avast expert fo help you.

Hi bgh I’m inclined to agree with the one that told you that ZA is a second rate product = in my opinion Zone Alarm, Pest Patrol, and Web Root all three suck, and all three have caused damage to my PC.

If you really want to trash Avast! just click on Alt F X and be done with it.

Hi,
I tried to unistal avast 4.7 home edition. i downloaded the aswClear.exe from the site but it was damanged. Ican’t unistal and remove the folder too. The avast have been damanged at all. I tried to download and set up it again. I can open avast but i can’t update it and it doesn’t work at all. I would like to unistal it and i ask for your help please. I haven’t any antivirus and i cant install another one. My pc is in danger. :frowning:

Try, again, an installation from the scratch:

  1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
  2. Boot.
  3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
  4. Boot.
  5. Install again the latest avast! version.
  6. Boot.
  7. Check and post the results.

Which was your ‘old’ antivirus? Was there any one when you bought the computer (OEM)?

Thank you for reply. The problem is that I can’t to remove it from control panel too. If i could it I think it would like better for me to fix it :frowning: Can i do something else? Afriend of mine told me that maybe i can delete some registry keys from this. If is it right can you help me please?

Then miss out steps 1 & 2 and start with the uninstall utility (step 3) which was the real purpose of the uninstall utility to clean up after a failed uninstall.

How did you download aswclear.exe (did you save it to disk and not try to download and run in one step) ?
Did you use a download manager ?

Delete the original download and try again.

You don’t really want to go playing in the registry as you may do more harm possibly to other programs.
