Unknown process AShelper.exe found after boot time scan

My computer weirdly scheduled itself for a boot scan the other day but figuring a boot scan to be a good thing in general, I didn’t think anything of it.

Now I booted up again and I see an error about AShelper.exe so I googled what this is.

Scary thing is it says this bit of software can read my keyboard and mouse inputs, manipulate and monitor applications and connect to the internet so for all I know its been transmitting my passwords and everything else I’ve been doing to some troglodyte somewhere.

This is even scarier when you consider the fact that I’m also working on the financials for my clients businesses.

Why wasn’t this thing shut down in the boot scan? A normal scan when I’m logged in to Windows doesn’t report any infection and I can’t seem to find any way to send this to Avast for addition in its virus databases.

Please recommend further action I can take now to secure my system.

Upload AShelper.exe to www.virustotal.com and scan it
if scanned before, click rescan for a fresh result … post link to scan result here

Boot scan does not give any better detection, what it give is better removal of some malware types Boot scan is something you use when there is a (detected) problem
