i used my flash drive on a shared pc,
so now when i try to open my usb flash drive,
i get the message :

(winodows cannot find file R\\\dontspread.com, make sure you typed the name correctly…)

is there a solution?

can i rescue my flash? is it possible my pc is infected?
how to fix this?

i was not able to find any useful info about it :frowning:

Prevx file info
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/1106160334977855494-X1/DONTSPREAD.COM.html

this the only info i could find,
but still the flash was not working,

however, when i deleted the virus from avast virus chest,
i was able to access the flash again,
so, thanks alot

check your computer for malware with

MBAM http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
update and run quick scan, click on “remove selected” to quarantine anything found, and restart

SAS http://filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/

Are cookies really spyware and are they dangerous?
http://www.superantispyware.com/supportfaqdisplay.html?faq=26

If anything is found you may post the scan logs here

still, no luck,
MBAM did not find anything,
nor did avast,
I only can access the flash when i insert it the first time,
otherwise, the same message appears and
I cannot access the flash from my computer :frowning:

does formating help?

You will most probably also find an autorun.inf file on your various drives and usb devices. If you look at the autorun.inf file, it will reference the dontspread.com file. So every time you plug the usb drive into a computer, autorun will execute and execute the dontspread.com file and spreading the virus to other shares you have access to. You want to also get rid of the autorun.inf file (if it references don’tspread.com). You should search all your devices for autorun.inf and if it is referencing the dontspread.com file, you know the virus put it there. Dontspread.com is put in a directory labeled R (or similar). It is given the hidden system attribute and it may have the recycle bin icon. FYI, Autorun.inf by itself is not harmful. It is frequently found on CDs or DVD with content on them that the producers want to auto execute when you insert into a drive.
