Locked how?
I put a password and i forgot it. So i can not log in into my computer.
I downloaded a program from pogostick (its supposed to help me with the password problem http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/) already but the program seems to not want to start. I restart my laptop press ESC and boot options, boot fromUSB and programs appears like in ancient text but it does not take off from there. I am supposed to press ENTER but does nothing.I do now know what to do, I just want someone to please help me unlock my laptop. Can someone help.

So the problem is not related to avast …
I have avast, my computer locked though.
yes but not bc of avast … and it is not your avast program that is locked
we have a smart guy here with lots of strange tools, he may have some ideas … he is in bed now but will be online tomorrow, so check back
Thanks for all and I will.
Try this
Reset Windows password using CMD
Step 1: Logon to Windows as administrator (You also can logon in Safe Mode with Command Prompt, pressing F8 when restart your computer, hit up/down key to choose Safe Mode with Command Prompt and hit Enter).
Step 2: Click on Start, type cmd in the Run box or Search box and press Enter.
Step 3: Type net user, all user accounts of your computer will be listed.
Step 4: Type net user “UserName” “NewPassword”(replace UerName and NewPassword with yours), press Enter, then the password will be reset as new one and you can logon Windows
If it’s locked the OP may not be able to use the command prompt.
The OP may need to take it to a shop to have the password reset.
cmd prompt should work in safe mode which bypasses the logon screen plus the cmd is only a shortcut, once in safe mode the OP can also just navigate straight to the user accounts in control panel - create new user and delete the old
Booting into safe mode normally requires you enter the administrator password. If so and you have forgotten that too then this gets more difficult.
Deleting the old user without first transferring all the users data etc could lead to unwanted results.
Changing the account name is what I meant “sorry” it wont remove any such data.

It’s how I normally get into friends and families systems when they bring them to me to fix, it’s been a while since I’ve to do it but I’m usually in fairly easy, typing Administrator might help if they are further locked out still.
if its an XP box user administrator with no password usually works fine.
If its windows 7 then you will need to create a bootable password reset disk, heres how:
1.You need a blank cd/dvd
2.On a spare machine (borrow one) download http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/ then burn this ISO to the CD/DVD (ashampoo burning studio free will do and its… free)
3.Put this CD/DVD ionto the cd drive on the laptop, when prompted boot from cd (if you arnt prompted you will need to change boot sequence in bios, simple enough, just ask)
4.Follow simple onscreen instructions
Good to know. The problem is the OP is locked “out” of his/her machine.

Yup, the above instructions should allow the OP to regain access without any loss of data
A in-place-repair should solve it.
This topic also goes back to 2014 ???
