Hi I am very new to this forum and pretty new to the software and antivirus side of computers.
Recently Avast was telling me i had MBR PHYSICALDRIVE0 and I looked on the forums for an answer and then used aswMBR to try and fix it, which seemed successful. unfortunately after this I could not get onto my computer out of safe mode and if I try to start my computer normally it goes to a blue screen and immediately restarts itself. (my computer uses Vista if that matters)
I have also noticed Avast says it is unsecured and has either been stopped or is in an inconsistant state, I tried reinstalling but I’m still having the same problem.
I have no ideas what to do or if I did anything wrong and I really could use some advice. thanks in advance.
MBR Physicaldrive0 Woow!!! I think that Malwarebytes is suppose to have a fix for that… Do you have Malwarebtes on your computer already?? If you can download it and set your “Folder optiuons”
To enable the viewing of hidden and protected system files in Windows Vista please follow these steps:
Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
Click on the Start button. This is the small round button with the Windows flag in the lower left corner.
Click on the Control Panel menu option.
When the control panel opens you can either be in Classic View or Control Panel Home view:
If you are in the Classic View do the following:
Double-click on the Folder Options icon.
Click on the View tab.
If you are in the Control Panel Home view do the following:
Click on the Appearance and Personalization link.
Click on Show Hidden Files or Folders.
Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide extensions for known file types.
Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
Do a scan But DON’T REMOVE any SYSTEM RESTORE VOLUME INFROMATION Even If they are selected red by Malwarebytes…
Let us now how the scan goes…and if you still get a blues screen …
Cheers and safe surfing!!!
