Hi,

Have you turn off your Windows Defender at your vista system?

Please turn it off…

where did you go to download Avast what website. Avast home page, download .com, etc. where?

I turned it off.

& Download.com

which version of Avast, Avast 5 free, Avast 5 pro trial version, or Avast Internet Security trial version. I am trying to duplicate your issue.

avast 5 free

I successfully downloaded Avast Free from download.com not redirected to that link you provided. You may possibly have an infection prior to your attempt at downloading the Avast Free. You may want to try Vipre Rescue Program which is explained here, http://live.sunbeltsoftware.com/ and or Eset Online Scanner explained here, http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ and also download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware here, http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and do a quick scan, all these are free. but there are others here more qualified in this endeavor but these may solve your problem if it is a malware causing the redirecting to that link you provided.

Hi,

You should download it from http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Please try again, since pinnacle want to try duplicate your issues.

yeah try it again the download as Yanto.Chiang has suggested, cause i had no problem at download.com but use the link he provided, http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

Use legal site is more safety than from other website.

Hi
Here is happening the same thing. (the same screen - http://i49.tinypic.com/1fekwx.jpg , and nothing is happening when I click on Fix Now or Start Program).
I tried all suggestions you gave, but no one is solving the problem.
And it´s also not recognizing the current version, release date or number of definitions (maintenance > update and about avast!).
What I could try?
Thanks,
