Why my post on Unthreat AV is being deleted. Its been deleted twice without any reason being given. Atleast give a reason or message so that I know what I did wrong??? or why the post was deleted???
You basically printed a SPAM ad for the aforementioned AV. An AV that is in direct competition with Avast!. And promoting of the competitions products are not (and shouldn’t be) allowed.
Well I am in other AV/Security forums too & there it is not like this. One can post anything about any AV & security products there. EX - Comodo Forum.
Why here it is not allowed?
It was not a spam/advert. Just an info about an AV which I tested & find good & wanted to share the info with other members. I posted exactly the same thing in Comodo Forum. It was like sharing the info about a new free AV I find good.
Do you mean to say info about the AV in competition to Avast should not be posted here?
This shouldn’t be so. There should be freedom to post. And I posted in the General Category & not in Avast AV thread.
Comodo has a different situation…first of all, much their user base uses just their FW/D+, and that is their core product. Avast!'s core product is its AV. You don’t see anyone here deleting posts for OA or Outpost or Comodo, despite that Avast! has a FW.
Secondly Comodo loves being compared to anyone for any reason…it gives them a chance to “demonstrate the power of D+”, which is of course as good as they say…as long as the person using it is Windows-savvy.
Your post might have gotten up without a stink, if you had placed it where it belongs…in the Updates thread (and no, that is not an invitation to try again) and placed a simple post with a link. But you posted what looked to me to be an advert, complete w/ features, praising their support…well, now you know what not to do.
Makers of this product promise…and goes on like that for about another full paragraph about how promising it looks and how great their support is, never once making it look like a discussion
So he was a bit over the line, as he just approached it completely the wrong way. ;D
I didn't miss anything in Avast. Its just that I tested quite a new AV & found it good. Being a member here & other forums tried to share this.
Gargamel360 has described my deleted post not correctly.
And I dont think it was a spam/advert.
It was…
New Name(AV) Free Fully Functional.
Autoupdate was missing & is added now. Its same in free/paid but little slower in free.
VB RAP test shows good detection. I tested & found the detection good.
Uses Vipre Engine & Inhouse stuffs.
Forum started now.
All the points explains the features of the product that it has full AV features, missing autoupdate is now there, personal test showed good detection, uses licenced & inhouse stuffs & everyone post screenshots of malware testing sites or reviews for detection here which I just mentioned.
Whats spam/advert here to delete the post?
The only thing I find little out of place was, I mentioned support is awesome. You may point this as an advert & deleted this. Atleast on deletion of any users post inform him/her the reason.
Simply put spam is a general term we use with regards to anything that is advertising wich you were doing by posting information here about another AV and how much you like it, posting info about products that compliment avast eg Malwarebytes and such is fine but recommending other AV’s is a no no when your on the forum as it is a competing product.
You dont go to the comodo forums and make posts about how good you think Outpost Firewall or Online Armor is do you! of course not as they would also delet your posts :
Offcoz I post in Comodo Forums about other products AV, Suite, etc in the category Other Security Products & General Discussion. I have also posted about Unthreat Free Edition there too. No prob at all.
I didn’t mention anything about other av products, i said you dont post about how good other firewalls are there as the firewall is there main product so i doubt they would allow people to glorify a competing firewall.
I rather think that Tech’s comment may have been more tongue in cheek than the spirit. As in, if you didn’t miss avast, what are you doing back in the avast forums peddling this information ???
My feelings are this is the official avast! support forums and as such we should be concentrating on that. Generally the users here are either seeking help or giving it for avast not looking for another AV solution. What others might or might not be doing is more of a concern of avast software than user level. Unless that user is looking for another solution, in which case I would say they would be better off looking at independent review sites, than swallow the usual marketing blurb…
I’m of the school if it isn’t broken don’t fix it, so I have been using avast for over seven and a half years, it suits my needs so I have no need to seek out a replacement.
If and when that day comes I will do my searching, so I don’t need the other solutions shoved down my throat ‘today’ (so to speak) as I don’t need it now. If the day ever comes that information would be dated and useless.
I didn’t delete your posts, but I can see why they might have been deleted. After all avast! is paying the bill for the forums.
