Unusual thing just happened

Avast gave me a microsoft Visual C++ runtime library alert

the path to AshWbsv.exe

and had this message

“This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. please contact the application’s support team for more information”

what’s going on?

and sorry if this is in the wrong forum

Most probably another application that you’re using right now is ‘crashing’ WebShield.
What were you doing? I mean, which programs are running right now, specially the ones that connect the Internet.
Do you use a firewall? Which is your operational system?

nothing I haven’t used safely with it before

MirandaIM, dial up to the net, google desktop, avast and anything running in background of winxp pro - though I have some of the less safe services turned off

Do you have anything usefull into avast logs? Right click the ‘a’ blue icon and choose ‘avast! Log Viewer’.
Into the reports (\Data\Reports) do you have anything related to this error?

Do you have any file into \windows\minidump folder ?
Can you send the newest (recent) .mdmp files to vlk@avast.com or rypacek@asw.cz for further analysis?
Better if you can compress (zip) them and add some information about the BSOD and the link for this thread.

Alternatively, you can upload the file(s) to Alwil anonymous ftp servers:
ftp://ftp.asw.cz/incoming
ftp://www2.asw.cz/incoming
