I keep getting unwanted advertising pop-ups originating from Avast! These are offering software for mobile phone devices I don’t have or a Nexus something that I don’t have and don’t want.
Why are we being targeted wrongly with such ‘spam’ messages? I wish Avast! would stop sending them immediately.
Do you have a screenshot of those?
- Since avast does “not” come pre-loaded on any computer they use the pop-ups for advertising.
- The Czech Republic is a free market country.
- avast has every right to make a profit. After all the employees probably want to get paid.
- You can adjust the duration of the pop-ups via GUI>Settings. If you want to disable pop-ups permanently GUI>Settings>Silent/Gaming Mode>tick
the box.
But why does it keep offering unwanted pop-ups advertising things I can’t use. I want to disable such pop-ups, but can’t find how.
You can disable them when you set the time to 0.
For the Update notifications you have to disable them under Updates>Details
I didn’t ask avast! to provide the free version. I use it because they offer it. I don’t mind them trying to sell additional services off of the free platform, but, once I tell them I’m not interested, by manually closing the pop-up, I expect them to stop nagging me about that, and any other offers where I manually close the pop-ups. I can certainly empathize with others who don’t like the behavior either.
Disable the update notification will help.
I’m not around here enough to have seen that tip before, and it’s a good one. Thanks Tech!
