No update thru GUI.

Says already up to date.

Be patient jadinolf ;D

Snap No update through the avastUI on my XP Pro system with the 7.0.1465.

However, update check from avastUI on win7 netbook with regular 7.0.1456 version reports update available and installed fine.

No problems here.
Did not update from beta versions.
Updated via GUI from 1456 to 1466 Service update.
Thanks Avast! ;D 8) 8)

No version 7.0.1466 showing yet on XP SP3 here. Servers running behind for XP?

1466 fine downloaded from usual updated free version

Not available here yet from the 1465 GUI with Win7.

Just updated with a few quirks.

Was in user mode (not admin) logged off, logged into admin:

  • Final install box displayed in Admin account when first loading as if Avast! was already installed; it is the box that gives the user the choice to install Chrome browser, and then click “Finish”. Ticked off Chrome install to not install, then clicked Finish. Chrome did not install, and neither did Avast.
  • Manually initiated the update while connected to the internet, downloaded required update files and rebooted. Avast! did successfully update on reboot. Now at version 7.0.1466.

Strange. But all good.

update or clean install?

regards

Thanks for asking. Update within GUI only. Strange stuff is that I had not yet started the update.

MORE strange is attached below: Avast! completely dead! No protection whatsoever. Discovered this when I noticed AvastUI.exe was not displayed in the system tray. That Never Happens. (In XP, the inactive icons disappear after a bit of inactivity) GUI was not password protected, even though on full reboot, all came back and password is working again. Go figure. Something new here. No, there was no red X on the avast icon either.

Finally available on the beta/RC build from the UI, I gave up trying last night and have just checked again now installed and about to reboot.
