Correct me if I am wrong .... but can you use SSL on port 110 ?

Check your mail account settings, are they correct / not changed?

SSL is just a transport layer and can be used on any port as long as both sides allow it.

For POP email port 110 is the standard port used, for POP-TLS/SSL it is 995.

But the OP is not using SSL as it seems.

Well I moved to webmail many years ago, no such problems there and have not experienced any down time yet
