I see a popup saying “Virus Definition Update Unsuccessful” and prompts me to update them manually. It leads me to the update windows and… sits there >:( . It sits there for hours without moving the progress bar, I give up and head to Status and it says that everything is up to date! It has been doing this for a month, what can I do to prevent this?
What OS/SP?
What exact version of avast?
Any other av (security) software installed?
Any other problem(s) with the system?
What OS/SP?: Windows 7 64 bit
What exact version of avast?: Avast Free
Any other av (security) software installed?: No
Any other problem(s) with the system?: No
It scans fine, it does everything okay, just definition. Searched on Google and did their thing but no luck. I have the latest version of Avast Free
See if a repair of avast is solving things.
Now it’s saying that Avast is out of date. When I click to update it does nothing. Is 2014.9.0.2016 the latest version of Avast?
Is 2014.9.0.2016 the latest version of AvastThat is not the latest version. I would try updating to 2014.9.0.2018. BTW, you should have been getting a routine pop-up indicating that a program update is/was available.
In this case I am against a update.
I advise a clean installation of the latest version.
If you browse this webboard (through my posts), you will find instructions on how to do it.
Ok, updating through Windows Action center doesn’t do anything and Avast still says it’s up to date so probably I am going to do a clean reinstall. Thanks for your efforts!
Keep us informed of the result please.
Everything right now! Avast now can update definitions automatically and windows action center says avast is on! Thanks ;D
That is always good to hear
