I just noticed that the update release for the AVAST HOME 4.7 edition is sometimes less than one a day. Do I have to worry or are there less malware in circulation on the net? ???
There is no fixed schedule for VPS updates but now it is around daily but don’t worry if it goes a day or two. There have been days where there have been 4 or more VPS updates in a day.

You should concern it you can’t trust your antivirus. Yes, there are companies that we can’t trust. No examples needed.
I’m NEVER worried with AVAST updates.

At one time avast’s standard for def updates was twice a week when things were relatively quiet, and (as DavidR noted) sometimes several times a day when the internet was in a “red alert” situation with lots of new menaces making their appearance.

I don’t know why you would add to a topic that was 5 months old, but your facts also seem incorrect.
If you check this link, http://www.avast.com/eng/vps_history.html, you will see there were updates on, 080218-0, 80219-0, 80220-0, 80221-0 and 80222-0. So I have no idea what is wrong with your auto update function.
