My virus database update failed. Tried uninstalling and re-installing, still failed… what do I do?

Typical cause is, your firewall is blocking avast from connecting, some network (especially DNS) issues including malware related ones… What is the error message?
Not only Avast, but this is been happening with AVG since they both using the same update engine called Icarus. I’ve been facing this problem since late July. It happened on bothnof my computers running Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Even doing a clean uninstall using Avast/AVG Clear and doing a fresh installation only solves temporarily. When a new update pops up in a month it still triggers “Something went wrong” when clicking on Check for Updates.
I even tried disabling the firewall, scanned for malware and modifying the DNS server settings but it did not make any difference as it still shows the same error as mentioned.
I also notice that Avast/AVG Antivirus “Icarus.exe” tries to download in a random temp folder with some numbers.
Could there be an Icarus.exe update bug across Gen Digital’s security products lately?
I haven’t had any issues on my three devices running Avast Premium, so this isn’t a problem related to GEN DIGITAL products.
It might be more related to the Avast One engine (VPN?).
