My Avast (Free version 5.0.677) failed to update this morning. I get the error message ‘package is broken’, is there anything I can do to fix it or should I uninstall and redownload?

Don’t worry, new updates correct failed previous ones.
Do you use a firewall? Which one?
Mine will not update either. I have it to auto update. I even manually clicked it to update but keeps failing to connect to sever. If I go to add/remove program and click on it to change/uninstall it will allow me to update that way but I’m tired of doing that. Please assist.
@saberdragon18: What OS are you running?
Is there another security program? maybe a firewall? It sounds like a connection issue.
Since the first time I installed Avast 5 Free to my current setup with AIS I have never had problems with the program updating and even when my connection is down for some reason Avast will inform me correctly and then update when the Internet is up and running. Looks like something is blocking yours from connecting to Avast servers.

MasterTB, I had posted on my own and I was assisted and they fixed the problem for me. They had me change the proxy setting to direct connection and that fixed my problem. I appreciate the help. Thanks
