My whole organization, which is set up with AEA is seeing an error like what I’ve attached.
Basically, it says “The last attempt to update your virus definitions was unsuccessful. To ensure you are protected from the latest threats, try again to update your virus definitions now.” When you manually run the update, it gives the same error. I’ve since upgrade AEA to 7.0.306 (It was 7.0.223.) and have pushed out the update to clients via TASKS > CLIENT-SIDE TASKS > UPDATING TASKS > UPDATE PROGRAM but, while that seems to have finished successfully, it does not seem to have fixed the issue. In fact, the only thing that seems to fix the issue is a redeploy of the client-side agent.
Is this normal? Will I need to redeploy the software to everyone in my organization?
Personal note: I run the free Avast version at home. I too saw this error last night. Obviously, I wasn’t pointed to an internal mirror but I was curious what has happened to the program that makes it unable to communicate with the update servers. Seems like an important part of the program…
When you open the GUI on the client side, the VPS version is red - like there’s some sort of issue with that. However, on a test machine that I’ve redeployed the client to, it shows up green but it’s the same version on both clients (121003-1). Furthermore, downloading/installing http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/vpsupd.exe will error out because the downloaded version of the VPS is the same version as what’s installed so updating manually doesn’t help right now either.
