I read in the latest New Official Avast Program Update 6.0.1091 announcement thread that you can update from version 5 to the latest version 6.0.1019. I’m still on 5.0.677, if I do that, will avast go to the next ver 5 before going to the latest ver 6? Or… will it update directly to the latest?
Thanks.
It will update to the current version: 6.0.1091 directly.
Thanks Steven,
Today I updated from 5.0.677 to the latest version (6.0.1091) via the GUI within avast. The update went just fine! It seems to be working okay so far. Firewall asked for permission (ZA) – which I gave, and the update completed without a hitch. For now, I chose not to install “WebRep”, but I may add that later. Ran a quick scan of 10-gig of files and it took a bit less than 9 mins. Thanks to the talented team at Alwil for this great new product version. I was concerned with it getting bigger and bigger (aka ‘bloatware’ like Norton, McAfee, etc), but I think the added features so far are worth this growth.
One question… under ‘Summary’ then ‘statistics’, it says I need to install Adobe Flash player to view charts. I already have Adobe Flash player installed (ver 10,2,152,32). Does it need to be at a different location so avast finds it? It’s installed in the normal place.
Thanks again.
Hi Rick, do you have the ie version of flash ? you will need it to view the avast statistic’s, if not you can grab it easyly from file hippo and upgrade your version of flash at the same time (latest 10.2.195.1 )
Remember to delet you existing versions of flash before upgrading
