Hi All, Please help, - is there anyway i can download vps8092900.vpu using a DOWNLOAD MANAGER, My internet connection keeps going on and off,
and unfortuneatly i pay for every meg… so very very frustrating .??? i already got vpsupd downloaded and updated.
No, there is no way.
However, if you already downloaded the whole vpsupd.exe - why would you need that?
thx for the reply… when i run vpsupd it tells me that the version is older than the one currently installed, however AVAST keeps trying to update itself ?
What VPS version does avast! report as installed? (you can find out e.g. in the About box)
VPS 080329-0
I hope you mean 080929-0.
Well, the latest one is 080929-1… if you want to update using vpsupd.exe, you would have to download it again I guess (it’s refreshed after each update - so if you downloaded it when 080929-0 was the latest one, it’s not valid anymore). However, that’s certainly not the recommended way of updating if the transfer size matters (vpsupd.exe contains the whole database, i.e. is rather huge).
The automatic updates should be much smaller… are you saying that avast! is trying to download the big vps-8092900.vpu file, instead of getting the small differences? (e.g. when you invoke VPS update manually from program GUI)
I wish … yes, avast is trying to download the 18 mg update file .( using manual update via GUI ) …
anyway… will go that route and let you know. :-X
Please send me the file setup.log from avast4\setup folder to my email, I’ll check why the vps isn’t downloaded incrementally.
This is the second user experiencing this issue… Thanks for coming Forejt.
