Update Installed NAG ware (( SOLVED ))

I am not happy Avast updated and Avast installed Nag Ware “Performance issues”
I am a paying customer not Free.
I do not want it Period ! !
I have tried to remove it by letting it run once it will not go away.
I buy this product to stop crap just like this nagware.
I am struggling to be polite right now.
Ccleaner has destroyed my OS in the past.

You can disable the ads in the paid versions: Avast GUI → Settings → Personal Privacy

Scan for Performance issues is Disable
Privacy settings are all unchecked.
Restart and Shut Down multiple times.
It will not go away, so it must be a BUG.
I could try an old config file.
BUT all my Clients will be calling me to fix this for Free.
See my other posts 700+ clients
It is still refusing to disable.

Post a screenshot.

Performance Issues is related to default install of the Cleanup module (paid). Here it is not paid for (limited access program) and it is not checked off so it does not appear in Smart Scan. Uncheck this module and reboot to eliminate it as an option.

It’s due to the opt-out strategy Avast uses for default installs. (Use Custom Protection) Standard install installs everything, even programs requiring paid for licenses to operate for full access.

Yes !
That fixed it.
Thank you Both Very Much !

Question: can updates be set to obey my settings, or would a config file work after update changes my settings ?

You’re welcome.

  • First way is to keep settings as status quo is to allow avast to automatically update via online install (no action required on your part) or install over the top using the full offline installer
  • Second way is to back up the settings you want to keep before upgrading (see attached below)

Second method allows importing settings onto a different system.

A clean install will always revert settings back to default settings in all cases.

Great, Thanks again.
I was going to use a config file and for most use Default settings.
