Update Interval

Hello ,

I have a question about the auto update interval of avast.

It is set at 240 minutes at default right.

I have changed it to 60 minutes , does that mean it updates every 60 minutes now instead of every 240 minutes ?

And since i changed it too 60 minutes , i never get a alert that it automatic updated.
You know , that green popup on the bottom right.

Can you answer my questions please , ty.

The minimal that avast free can be set to is 120 min but that doesn’t mean you will get update’s every 2 hour’s as there are only two to three update per day

No AIS expert here but I think that the timer is how often Avast/AIS checks (polls) to see if there is an update. Updates are made periodically during the day in most cases one to two updates a day though I have seen it go higher.

Lowering the time from 240 to 60 minutes could allow you to get a virus definition up to 240 - 60 = 180 minutes earlier if your software polls right after Avast updates its servers.

That is my understanding of how it works.

The user isn’t using AIS…!!

True. That one I caught ;D ;D. That is why I wrote Avast/AIS. just in case a AIS user reads this thread. After all the title of the thread makes no mention of Avast AV or AIS so I was just mentioning that I think that it works the same way for both products even though the creator of the thread wrote Avast. Actually some people might say or write Avast even if they are using AIS

Well, avast is the ‘A’ in AIS.
But AIS has not 240 minutes as default, only the free version has…!
