Just for information for Windows insider users:
Last night Microsoft published Insider Build 14951. It’s not possible to install the update until avast is running on the system. (I wanted to update from 14946)
I think, that Avast was blocking internet access (at least) to windows update processs. The update “hangs” at 0%
I uninstalled Avast (and activated Bitdefender) and I was able to update.
Yep; seems like the same issue exists with GA updates as well (at least for me on both of my PCs). Anyway, my workaround is to disable all 3 shields, do the update, and then enable the shields again.
Sorry to sort of Hijack this Thread, But currently, I’m having issues with my internet when avast shields are turned on in this latest insider build 14951. Windows recognised my network connection and shows the computer as being connected to the Internet, however websites load sporadically/incompletely. Additonally I’m unable to upload files to any websites (Facebook, youtube) and apps which rely on Internet connectivity flat out do not work (feedback hub, contact support just to name a few) this also affects games which require Internet access and causes the game to be nigh unplayable due to rubber banding/ lag
Current program version are as follows.
AVAST Free Antivirus
Program Version: 12.3.2280 (build 12.3.3154.19)
Virus Definitions version 161022-0
Welcome to the club… Seems the latest few Windows 10 updates 14946, 14951 have issues with what seems like dropped network packets. From what i’ve read, it affects 3rd party A/V and will require either MS or 3rd party vendors to resolve. Your choices are stop running Insider Builds (which I personally won;t ) or uninstall disable/uninstall avast until a fix is published.
On a side note… If Avast needs testers for beta builds…I’m all for it. 8)
There are some… But we had to move to slow ring of updates or (what we don’t want nor should) disable WebShield.
I’ve reverted to the 14931 and it’s working ok.
If anybody tests Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14955 for PC that is available for download and it does not mess Avast installation, please, post back. Then I could return to fast ring of updates. Otherwise, I must stay with 14931 (latest from slow ring). Thanks.
KNOWN ISSUES:
If you have a 3rd party antivirus product installed on your PC, your PC might not be able to complete the update to this build and roll-back to the previous build.

You may experience a crash while using the protractor in Sketchpad.- Signing into apps such as Feedback Hub, Groove, MSN News, etc. with your Microsoft Account if you sign out or get signed out of these apps will not work.
