Update notice announcement

I have the blue sliding box activated when the virus definition is updated. That’s fine but is there a way to disable the audio announcement?

Yes.

Oh you probably wanted to know how (sorry couldn’t help myself, late here, 1:40am) ;D
avast! Program Settings (right click the avast ‘a’ icon), Updating (Basic), Details button, Silent.

The Silent button is already clicked and as noted in the Help file does not pertain to the audio announcement.

Double click on the Avast Icon on the Desktop. In the upper left corner click on the menu button. Click on Settings, → Sounds, → Disable Avast Sounds.

This will completely stop any sounds from Avast.

So, it is all sounds or none. What sounds are there besides the update announcement that would be disabled? Can’t find a listing of sounds in Help.

Not sure of all of the sounds, but will eliminate the pop up announcements, siren when a virus is detected, clicking sound when working with the GUI, etc. These are just the ones that I am aware of that produce sounds of some type.

That’s what I thought. I don’t want to silence the problem sounds such as virus detected or update failed (if there is one like that). Only the update OK. Guess it can’t be done except perhaps to delete the announcement file vpspud.wav. That seems like brute force and maybe screws something else up. Thanks.

Follow the below steps :

My Computer > Control Panel > Sounds & Audio devices > window opened will be "Sounds & Audio Devices

Properties" > click on the Sounds tab > in “Program events” box, scroll down to “Avast! antivirus” > click

on “Automatic VPS update” > in “Sounds” box, click on the down arrow tab > select [None] > click on

“Apply” button > click on “OK” button.

I hope this helps you.

I think that did it. Was not aware of those settings. Thanks.

That is strange as someone said that worked for them, weird.

What is so disturbing about the update announcement ?
I find it reassuring that it is working as it is easy to miss the pop-up notification of an update having been done.

I do as well.

There was a sound bite with a ladies voice that I liked but I lost it when I had to FORMAT this system.

YoKenny, was it this one?
