Update Notification

When Avast updates I get the audible “Virus Database has been updated” but the pop up hangs around for ever and on two ocassions I have had to reboot to get rid off it. The system also slows down considerably while the update is happening yet there is no warning that this is going to happen or is happing.

Also this week I havetwice received a message that “Avast has caused an error and then closes” This is happening on two independant machines.

What do I need to do or should I abandon Avast.

Have deleted and reinstalled twice
