Is there any way to set AVAST to update just once a day?
I set the update time to 1440 minutes (from 240) but am not sure that will do it.
Right now it updates everytime I reboot. That can be multiple times a day.
Thanks.

You can make the program update every second but it wont change anything. Avast releases updates about 2-3 times a day. Thats about it.
Updates are important to ANY antivirus. If you don’t update the database then your just asking for trouble.
You can set the update to manual but i dont know why you would want to do this as the update’s are incremental and only in the Kb’s
The program is pretty much hard-set to check for an update after boot. This is so that people that only start their computers every so often still get an update before they go flying about the web. Avast can’t tell the difference between reboot or starting from cold, nor does it keep track of when the last startup was, so it automatically checks for updates after a boot.
If you’re asking because it slows the system down or something like that, you could try to delay the startup of Avast, which might help.
Click the avast icon to open the interface.
Click the settings button.
Click the troubleshooting menu on the left.
Check the box, “Load avast! services only after loading other system services”.
