Update package file invalid.

For the past few days I’ve been trying to update the app via Google Play, and every time the download goes to 54% then suddenly starts installing, and after a moment I get a message that says “Error: Package file is invalid.” Then Antivirus & Security crashes.

I have a Galaxy mini 2 with Android 2.3.6

This is still a problem: am getting the same error downloading from Google Play. Running Android 2.3, MyTouch 4G Slide.

Ditto. I went for total re-install and now I can’t install it at all.

March 08, 2015 - I am also having this problem.

  1. Powered down the phone and removed battery for 5 minutes ERROR Update package file invalid
  2. Removed the old version of Avast and tried to load the new version ERROR Update package file invalid.
  3. Powered down the phone and removed battery for 5 minutes (with Avast removed) ERROR Update package file invalid
  4. Powered down the phone and removed battery for 5 minutes and removed SD card ERROR Update package file invalid
    Anyone have a solution?

Exactly the same problem. I tried to uninstall avast to fix the problem. Now, I find myself without it because I can’t reinstall it. The Package is Invalid issue…

Same here, HTC Desire S with Android 2.3.5. Uninstalled because I hoped a clean install would fix the error but the new install fails with the same message.

FWIW, update on Lenovo Yoga 10 with Android 4.2.2 was successful so maybe it’s related to the Android version?

I’m having the same problem. I’m not going to uninstall anything given the experiences reported above. Waiting eagerly for Avast! to come up with a fix!

Same problem galaxy s2 been trying for days comes up with package file error.

Hooray, seems to be fixed now! I just tried again to install and now it was successful!
