I already submitted a bug report via the UI, but I thought I’d post here too in case anybody has a solution.
Every few hours when there’s a virus definition update, the pop-up appears that says, “We’ve updated your Avast! Free Antivirus. You’re now rocking our newest, best-ever version 20.5!”
I’ve tried clicking the green “Got it” button at the bottom, as well as the “X” in the top right, but every few hours when there’s a definition update, that dang pop-up keeps appearing. I’d very much appreciate it if Avast patched the program so that pop-up only appears once, and not every single time there’s a definition update.
Thank you.
PS - see attached picture of said pop-up.
Repair Avast:
- Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
- Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
I followed your instructions. I have an SSD and it finished up in under 10 seconds. I didn’t expect it to finish that quickly. I saw it generate a new desktop icon, which I assume is the sign that the repair finished.
I’ll check back later if I see that pop-up returns.
Thank you for your help.
You’re welcome.
Well it’s been a day now and I haven’t seen the pop-up return. Your solution was the permanent fix.
Thanks again!
No problem.
