update problem with Avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1426

I installed Avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1426 On Windows 7 (64-Bit) And I can’t update the virus database, the update hangs on “Initializing” … Is there some kind of fix I can use?

Please, upload (attach) the avast log:
\Setup\setup.log

If the file is too big for the forum, post the last 400-500 lines of it.

I hope those lines are enough… the file was too big

BTW … while I was reading your reply… the program updated automaticly (I got the pop up message) … but I think the problem is still there… because I tried avast free before… even when it was up to date, it shouldn’t hang when I try to manually update…

Try to set your proxy to “No proxy” instead of “Automatic detect” on the update tab of settings.

well… I think it worked… but still the time is too high… and I’m getting (failed to connect to server, retrying) during update… I’ll attach 2 screenshots and another setup log… plz tell me if what’s going on is normal or not…

Well, it could be a temporary glitch on connection from your side to the update servers.
But the update process is working ok in your computer now.

thnx for your time man, really I appreciate it

You’re always welcome

I had been using Avast! Free Antivirus 7.0.1426 On Windows Vista and I can’t update the virus database and program, the update hangs on “Initializing” or showed the error.

AvastUI
Unspecified error

I am not good with computers so do not understand the avast log.

“Please, upload (attach) the avast log:

I tried to uninstall or re-install the avast 7 but unable to do so.

Is there something I can do?

  1. Download avast! Free Antivirus: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe
  2. Follow instructions: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed avast! versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall avast! with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
